Second Annual Chili Cook-off and Hoe-down!
The United Methodist Women of VanFUMC invites everyone to the second annual Chili Cook-off and Hoe-down! We are looking for some outstanding chili makers and invite back last year’s contestants to compete again in a bigger and better cook off. There will be a pie auction again and we are looking for homemade pie bakers, hoping to have a large variety of pies. Please contact Nancy Janney at 360.903.5971 or the church at 360.693.5881 if you’d like to make chili and compete in the cook-off or make a pie for the auction. There will be great entertainment and fun for all as last year’s attendees can attest to. The cost is the same $10 for adults and $5 for kids under ten. The time for the event is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the information booth on Sundays and from the church office or UMW members. See you there. Yee-haw!
First Church Fellowship
Vancouver’s Mayor, Anne McEnerny-Ogle, will be our speaker for the March 9th First Church Fellowship in Jason Lee Hall. The newly elected mayor is Vancouver’s first woman mayor. Join us for fun, fellowship, and an informative program. Anne will bring the latest on the city and the county. We will again go to lunch following the program. Please join us in at 10 a.m. for our First Church Fellowship.
March is Mission Month for Club 345. All 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are invited to join us for Club 345 on Sunday, March 11th. We will meet in the Club 345 room at 11:15 a.m. We will be building Blessing Bags as one of our projects. Please RSVP to Julie Harris at email@example.com so we know how many kids will be attending.
Encore Concert Series Special Presentation!
On March 8th, starting at 6 p.m., VanFUMC will host a Choir Festival in the Sanctuary. This Encore Special Presentation is free and open to the public. It will feature two top Washington choirs, Western Washington University Advanced Women’s Chorale and Rogers High School Concert Choir from Puyallup. These choirs have been selected to perform in the Northwest Regional ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) convention being held in Portland. This is an ideal opportunity to hear these top notch choirs if you cannot make it to their Portland performances.
VanFUMC’s adult choir in residence, the Vancouver Chamber Singers, will perform, featuring our church music director, Thomas Rheingans, at the piano.
This will be a great and rare opportunity to hear top choral groups performing in the same concert in our sanctuary. Please invite your friends and neighbors to this very special event!
Can’t make it to worship service on Sunday?
If you currently live stream our worship services, each Sunday bulletin will be posted on this website: vanfumc.org. At the homepage, just select the “Worship” tab then “Watch Our Stream.” Even if you don’t catch the live stream, but don’t want to miss a service, you can see an archived service and won’t miss what is happening here at VanFUMC.
