Ministry Partners

Little Acorn Preschool, a ministry of Vancouver First United Methodist Church since 1981, has long served both the church and broader community. From the beginning, our inclusive, play-based, and child-centered program has left religious teaching to each family’s discretion—a philosophy still honored today.

We offer a part-time preschool experience that values active learning, freedom of choice, and respect for each child’s individuality. All children are welcome, regardless of background.

Through hands-on exploration and self-directed play, we help children build confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

We’re proud to have been named Best Preschool in The Columbian’s Best of Clark County in 2015, 2019, and 2020, and to be a BBB-accredited program since 2019. We love sharing The Little Acorn Way with our families and community.

Lutheran Community Services Northwest partners with individuals, families, and communities to promote health, justice, and hope.

Our roots go back to 1921 with the Lutheran Compass Mission in Tacoma, followed by Portland’s Lutheran Welfare Society in 1926. During the Great Depression, we expanded efforts to provide essentials to those in need.

Over the decades, our work has grown to include refugee resettlement, adoption services, mental health counseling, senior services, and crisis support. In 2001, several Lutheran social service agencies merged to form Lutheran Community Services Northwest as it exists today.

We’re proud to now serve the community from our new location inside Vancouver First United Methodist Church.
