Music is, and has always been, a vibrant part of weekly worship at Vancouver First United Methodist Church. Between the Director of Music and Keyboard Artist (think organ and piano!), Martin Ellis, and Director of Vocals & Handbells, Amber Tripp, the church has been blessed with a variety of music and continues to grow in all aspects. If you are looking for a place to brush off your vocals or instrument, come join us! Feel free to fill out THIS FORM with your interest level.
Join our Sanctuary Choir and/or our First Church Handbells Ensemble! We are always looking for new voices and faces to sing and play with our groups. The choir typically meets most Thursday evenings in the Sanctuary from 5:30-6:45pm with a rotating schedule (3 weeks on, performance, a couple weeks off and repeat).
The handbell ensemble meets after church on most Sundays from 11:15am to 12:30pm. This group is also on a rotating schedule where we rehearse for 3-4 weeks, perform, and then break for a couple weeks before meeting again.
For more information on our schedule, contact the office directly or email Amber Tripp at music@vanfumc.org.
New Song, a contemporary band-style group meets either Wednesday afternoons at 4pm or Thursday evenings at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary. We are working the schedule around those who can attend. We are currently looking for a drummer and electric guitar players, particularly those who can pick. However, all are welcome to check out the group and join us in song! Please contact the church office or Martin Ellis at music@vanfumc.org for more information.
We are fortunate to have a selection of instrumentalists here at First Church, including brass, woodwind and string instruments. We are always working to incorporate these into our service but are looking to the future in creating a small orchestral group. At this time, rehearsals are as needed and decided amongst the players. If interested, please contact the church office or Martin Ellis at music@vanfumc.org directly.
Let us know if you play, sing, or would love to be involved!
